Waiting is the hardest thing to do when a good idea is on the edge of a breakthrough. The anticipation is like a the cola in a shaken pop bottle.
There are 2 possibilities for garden plots. One is near my home, 10 miles out and one is in West Mott. I am asking permissions and taking final measurements in the next two days. I hope the wait won’t be long after that. There are 3 grants (1000.00 each) available to promote gardening with youth. I received this information because I am a 4H leader, though, I really just help Rachael with her 4 H Hettinger County Flickertails.
Gardening is just naturally a S.T.E.A.M. P.O.W.E.R. project. Events will be held at the gardening site as well as group work days and sign ups for individual family work. This Community Garden will help create more heroes in the community. The Youth who work here will be providing fresh produce for their families as well as friends and the food bank. I am excited for this to take off. There has been interest and excitement which I hope will continue through project completion. Please remember to sign your family up for the Mott Public Library Summer Reading Program this week to be entered into ALL of the drawings.
This project will be part of the Mott Public Library Summer Reading Program. The themes this year are:Every Story has a Hero–children/Unmask–teens/Escape the Ordinary-adults. The super heroes are fun, but I would like to pay special attention to the everyday heroes, the community heroes. There are good people doing great works and I would like to celebrate them while having fun with the cartoon/graphic versions.
Reach for the Stars Reading Incentive Program will get us started on May 15. It IS a busy time of the year. Remember that any and all reading counts. Read as a family. Read individually. Read silently. Read aloud. Read Outside. Read inside. Listen to an Audiobook while gardening or cleaning or driving (Doesn’t EVERYONE like being read to?)
Just an update. Please remember that there will be a Mott Public Library Board Meeting on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Mott Public Library. See you there. 😀
